Katie Rutter (née Breidenbach) and Brian Rutter, a videographer and scientific doodler respectively, found that their talents and passions complimented each other. They decided to join efforts to make their art even more powerful and widely available. The two work together well. So well, in fact, that they were married on April 29th, 2017.
What’s with the name?
In 2008 we found an unknown plant, a “thing,” growing in one of our pots. We had no idea where the little sprout came from or what kind of plant it was. We thought it was a weed or, at the very best, a humble bean. We let it grow anyway. It grew . . . and grew . . . and grew . . . and over time revealed itself to be a stately walnut tree: a noble tree good for nourishment, construction, and art.
We are all like things in a pot. We don’t know how or why we are here, but we trust that God planted us for a reason. If we have faith and give Him our hearts, He will nurture us, until, little by little, we will grow into what we were made to be. We will become like walnut trees: enriching others’ lives, building His kingdom, and revealing His beauty.
“Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, whose hope is in the Lord. He is like a tree planted beside the waters that stretches out its roots into the stream: It fears not the heat when it comes, its leaves stay green; In the year of drought it shows no distress, but still bears fruit.”
– Jeremiah 17:7-8
